STAGES OF THE PROCESS:
I.PREWASHING
-COLLECTING & SORTING OF LINEN
-TRANSPORTATION TO LAUNDRY
-SORTING
-WEIGHING AND LOADING
II.WASHING
Choose THE RIGHT Wash programme depending on:
-Duration of running(Lightly/heavily soiled)
-Temperature
-Agitation
-Chemicals
-Hardness of water
-No. of wash cycles-several short ones are better
THE WASH CYCLE
1.FLUSH(11/2 to 3 minutes)
-Dissolve the water soluble salts to reduce the load
-At medium temperature and high water levels
2.BREAK(4-10 minutes)
-Addition of high alkaline soil removal (break) followed by additional suds
-Medium temperature at low water levels
3.SUDS(5-8 Minutes)
-Actual “wash” where detergent is added
-Articles are agitated
-Hot water at low levels
4.INTERMEDIATE RINSE/CARRYOVER SUDS(2-5 Minutes)
-Removes soil and alkalinity
-Same temperature as suds
5.BLEACH(5-8 Minutes)
-If used, added to hot water at low levels
-Kills bacteria,whitens,removes stains
6.RINSE(11/2 TO 3 Minutes)
-Two or more rinses at high water level and medium temperature
-Removes detergent

-Sour/softener added to condition the fabric
-Medium temperature at low water level
9.FINAL EXTRACT(2-12 Minutes)
-High speed spin to remove moisture
-Length of the spin depends upon fabric type ,extractor speed.
III.RINSING
-Hot and cold water is used
-Water recycled from previous step to save
IV.HYDROEXTRACTION
-Removes 50% of water
-Reduces weight of load
-Reduces drying time
V.FINISHING
Drying-Towels, washcloths dried after hydro-extraction
Folding-Items to be folded after drying to prevent wrinkles
- Done by hand or machine
- Stains or tears to be noticed
Ironing-Sheets, pillowslips directly ironed
